Field & Hunting
Started field work at 2 years of age when I witnessed him during a reunion with Tony & Trisha of Legendary Run Vizslas. During this reunion, I was invited to watch Finnick's sister and mother work on birds as well as have him join. It was breathtaking to see his natural ability for finding and pointing his first quail! He proved to be solid with acclimation to shots as well. He quickly understood that it meant BIRDS!
We ended up going on to train for hunt tests and quickly earned his Junior Hunter title. His very first JH run was received with all 10s! The judge loved his drive and his endurance. He titled that year for his JH.
For Fall 2025, the plan is to focus on Field Trialling and obtaining a FC title. Due to the distance he normally runs, Finnick is a natural Field Trial dog. We are working on honing his skills to make him competitive in the sport.
I have even hunted over him and he is a superstar bird-finding machine!

Scentwork
Scentwork was natural for this boy. We went from beginner classes to Novice competition in a short time. Finnick goes from the gate quickly and is able to confidently 'alert' on the target. We have worked with three of the scents and he is able to expertly detect any and all during training.
Earned titles in two entities: CPE and AKC. Performed at 2024 National Specialties and earned a High Trial as well as many podium placements. Earned AKC SIN title at National Specialty in 2024
The plan is to finish is AKC All-Elements Novice Scentwork title when it's too cold to be in the fields. When things slow down in the field, he is capable of working on higher level scentwork classes, which we will work toward in the future.

Conformation
Finnick started Conformation competition in 2024. I felt that maturity would be in his favor, thus we started competing when he was 3 years old. Since then, I have travelled all over New England and Ohio to attend shows. He has been recognized by Judges all over the Northeast and Midwest (Ohio) as Winner's Dog and Best Of Breed, as we have travelled to some of the best-attended shows.
Most recently, Finnick earned some big wins at the Vizsla Club of Central New England's 2024 'Wicked' Specialty: He won 2 Majors and Best of Winners at this Specialty.
He went on to win the highly esteemed reconition at the VCCNE Specialty "Wicked Best" (Best of the Best OVER Specials) as a Class Dog. He won under the highly esteemed Vizsla afficionado, Ruth Sinclair-Stephens. He was among a very highly respected group of Winners at the VCCNE Specialty.

Other Sports
Besides all the "Vizsla things", Finnick has had a lot of fun doing some other sports.
He is currently in a weekly Toss & Fetch club. He earned his first TnF title "Certified Roller Dog" in 2024 when he obtained 10+ points for three of the five weeks of play. He is a natural for chasing and retreiving, which are the fundamentals of this game.
We have delved into pulling sports once Finnick was of physical maturity. Bike joring and canicross are two of the sports we have done together. Due to not being from a geographic area where there is any competition, we have not competed. Rather, these were a couple of activities that we could enjoy together.
